The media is buzzing over data showing China could surpass the United States this year as the world's leading economy, but a closer look suggests Americans needn't worry.

Demographics are working against China, while broad measures of personal wealth suggest it will take decades for the average Chinese to approach the financial security and standard of living enjoyed by a typical American.
