LeBron James defended Isaiah Thomas and slammed fans for burning jerseys on Thursday.

The NBA star shamed Boston Celtic fans on Twitter for setting fire to their Thomas jerseys after the player was traded for Kyrie Irving.

"The burning of the jersey thing is getting ridiculous now!" LeBron posted, reminding fans that Isiah had been traded before proceeding to remind them of the death of the player’s sister.

James was not the only one to comment on the issue and was joined by other players determined to have their say on social media.

Responding to a video posted by a fan on Twitter, in which a Thomas jersey is set alight, Celitcs player Jaylen Brown said it was "pathetic."

The Cleveland Cavaliers traded with The Celtics on Tuesday, after Irving requested he be transferred.

ESPN noted that, at the time, the all-star point guard cited wanting to be in a situation where he was more of a focal point.

He also listed not wanting to play alongside James, as motivation for the trade.

Thomas is yet to comment about the switch however, NBA insider Chris Broussard revealed that his Boston teammates "weren’t really fond of him," NESN reported.

"We know he had those problems in Sacramento and in Phoenix. I didn’t know he was having those issues — before (talking with) these executives — in Boston," Broussard said.

However, many players have since come out in defense of Thomas and dismissing these claims.

Former teammate Evan Turner told CelticsBlog that Thomas was "the type of person to more so be hurt if someone wasn't giving their all because that little dude battles."’

He added it was unreal to see Thomas rise above.

"Nothing ill should ever be said about that guy. He's maximizing everything he's been blessed with on and off the court."
