Lara Trump, a senior adviser for father-in-law President Donald Trump's re-election campaign, Friday slammed the president's former attorney Michael Cohen for "turning his back" on him during his public testimony this week before the House Oversight Committee.
"It is never fun to see that happen, to see someone who has proclaimed on television hundreds of times that he would take a bullet for this president, that he is the greatest president in the world, to go on and on about what a great guy he was," Trump, who is married to the president's son Eric, told Fox News' "Fox and Friends."
It was "very obvious" that Cohen "turned his back on somebody when he is trying to save his own hide," she added. "He is obviously a self-confessed liar and perjurer. It is never easy to see that stuff."
It was good news, though, that Cohen said there was no evidence of collusion between the 2016 campaign and Russia, Trump said.
"I thought the Democrats looked really dumb, really crazy," said Trump. "It was a spectacle and a clear stunt to distract from what the president was doing."
She also defended her sister-in-law, Ivanka Trump, over her back-and-forth arguments with freshman Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez over working people and wages, and the Green New Deal.
"What Ivanka said is right," said Trump. "People want to work for what they get. They want to be independent and support their family, to have the pride of going to work every day."
