The man behind a GoFundMe “Trump Wall” campaign now has permission to transfer $7 million of the money he raised to his new plan to privately pay for construction of a wall along the Mexican border, CBS News is reporting.

Brian Kolfage, a wounded veteran from South Florida, started his “Trump Wall” campaign in December and was able to raise about $20 million from more than 300,000 people.

He had hoped to eventually raise $1 billion and turn the money over to the government to help pay for the wall.

But now funds will go to his new non-profit, We Build the Wall, Inc. He and another source estimate about 120,000 donors have chosen to redirect about $7 million in their GoFundMe money to his new organization, according to the network news.

However, he conceded the $7 million figure is a “guess.”

The remaining $13 million from the GoFundMe page will be refunded to the donors, who have not chosen to redirect their money to Kolfage’s new group.

In December, Kolfage had written that he was facing death threats against his family, censorship of his petition on Twitter and potential legal challenges for his efforts to crowd source the wall for the government.
