Pfizer senior executive Sally Susman, who was a major backer of President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign, will host a fundraiser for New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, who is running for president, CNBC reports.
Susman is Pfizer’s executive vice president of Corporate Affairs and the chair of the company’s Political Action Committee. Gillibrand is set to attend a fundraiser at Susman’s home on March 31, where tickets will cost between $1,000 and $2,700, according to unnamed sources.
"Sally Susman is major Democratic fundraiser," said an unnamed New York donor with knowledge of the event. "Having her in your corner is a good get, and, at the end of the day, Kirsten's got to show that she has real support in New York."
A spokesperson for Pfizer declined to comment to CNBC, while the Gillibrand campaign did not respond to requests for comment. The senator pledged in January that her “campaign is going to be run for and by people, not corporate PACs,” and touted her success with grassroots donations.
