The Kentucky county clerk jailed for refusing to hand out marriage licenses to gay couples has reportedly been invited by a prominent conservative group to attend President Barack Obama's final State of the Union address.

The Washington Examiner reports
the Family Research Council arranged for Kim Davis to be in the House audience along with her lawyer, Mat Staver.

The Rowan County clerk's refusal to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples because it conflicted with her Christian beliefs landed her in jail for five nights

The Examiner reports Davis also was the guest Monday night at the "State of the Family" address by the Family Research Council's president, Tony Perkins.

"Kim stood up courageously against the power of the state and the ACLU and she, along with religious liberty in Kentucky prevailed," Perkins said in his speech, the Examiner reports, citing an advanced copy of the address.
