Ed Klein: Biden May Enter Race After New Hampshire

Ed Klein: Biden May Enter Race After New Hampshire

Tuesday, 01 September 2015 11:45 PM EDT

Best-selling author Ed Klein says Vice President Joe Biden still hasn’t made up his mind on running for president, which is creating both anticipation and tension in Democratic circles.

On Monday, Klein told Newsmax TV that Biden is being urged to hold off on announcing his challenge to Hillary Clinton until the former secretary of state is further "roughed up" by challenger Bernie Sanders and the press.

Then, he said, the reasoning is that party elders will approach him and beg the vice president to throw his hat in the ring.

“Nobody really knows what's in Joe's mind,” Klein, author of the forthcoming "Unlikeable: The Problem with Hillary," told Newsmax TV on Tuesday.

“I've been in total and constant touch with the Biden people and they confessed that the Vice President simply hasn't made up his mind whether he's going to announce in September and challenge Hillary now or wait and see if she implodes in Iowa and New Hampshire and then step in.”

And that only amplifies the drama among Democrats as Hillary Clinton continues to wrestle with the burgeoning email scandal.

“Obviously there was a lot of paranoid stuff going on through these emails,” Klein told "Newsmax Prime" host J.D. Hayworth. “She was in constant touch for instance with Sidney Blumenthal who is so toxic that the White House refused to let her hire Sidney Blumenthal in the State Department.”

Blumenthal, a former liberal journalist, has a relationship with the Clintons that stretches back to the 1990s. Though he is not considered a foreign policy expert, emails released so far suggest that Hillary was following Blumenthal’s advice on a host of issues dealing the Middle East.

Blumenthal “got $10,000 a month to work for the Clinton Foundation and Blumenthal and she constantly, according to these new emails that we've seen, were in touch with each other cooking up all kinds of conspiracy theories. This is just one of many kind of curious stuff that was going on in her State Department.”
