Former president Jimmy Carter provided an update on his health, saying he remains in remission from skin cancer that had spread to his brain.
"I still get a check-up every three months or so, brain scans and things like that, but so far the results have been good," Carter said in a CNN interview.
The former president has worked with ministries of health in nations around the world to take on tropical disease cases, the report said.
The Carter Center has made progress in eradicated Guinea worm disease infections, a parasitic infection spread through drinking water from ponds or other stagnant water, the report said.
When the center began in 1986 an international campaign to eradicate the disease, there were around 3.5 million cases in 21 countries. So far in 2018, there have been only three confirmed human cases of Guinea worm disease, the Carter Center reported.
"I still hope to outlive the last Guinea worm," Carter said in the interview.
