Bestselling author Jerome Corsi defended the Trump administration's firing of former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe — and derided sympathy for an ouster that'll deprive the veteran agent of his FBI benefits.

"His pension ought not to be his biggest problem," Corsi said in an interview with Newsmax. "Spending time in jail should be his biggest problem."

Corsi's new bestseller "Killing the Deep State: The Fight to Save President Trump" details what the author says is a "criminal conspiracy to remove the president from office."

Corsi has written several New York Times bestsellers including "Unfit for Command" and "Obama Nation." "Killing the Deep State" has soared to the top of Amazon bestsellers and became a No. 1 bestseller its first day of release. Corsi says the evidence is so overwhelming and the press is largely ignoring his book because it shows "the smoking gun" proof against the Bureau.

Corsi noted that there are now allegations that McCabe engaged in serious wrongdoing, if proven, that include asking FBI agents to change interviews with witnesses. Fox News, Corsi said, reported that claim in late January — involving a FISA memo on Obama-era government surveillance.

He also decried the shocking conversations between FBI agents Peter Strzok and girlfriend, Lisa Page — and Strzok's reported friendship with the federal judge who presided over former national security adviser Michael Flynn's case of lying to the FBI.

Based on these new disclosures, Corsi said, "I think [Flynn] ought to be allowed to withdraw his guilty plea."

Corsi said the Justice Department Inspector General's report on McCabe "should be released as soon as possible" to the public.

"It's pretty clear the inspector general will be extremely critical" of the FBI's Hillary Clinton investigation, he said.

"The American people want justice here and don't want a slew a corrupt deep state officials" believing the FBI "can act beyond the requirements of law," he said.

Corsi added that most Americans now agree the investigation of special counsel Robert Mueller is a "witch hunt," as President Donald Trump has long complained.

The Mueller probe has gotten to the point of "silly — it's pathetic," he lamented. "Now Mueller wants to investigate all [Trump's] business dealings … [indicating] a complete witch hunt," he added.

Corsi said he doubts, however, that Trump will make any move to fire Mueller.

"Congress ought to take some action and demand that [deputy Attorney General Rod] Rosenstein should justify why this investigation should continue," he said.

"The Russian collusion" objective of the probe "failed," Corsi declared.

"It was a loser," he said. "The Democrats are hanging onto it because they can't get over their hatred of Donald Trump."
