Report: Comey Compares Trump to a 'Mob Boss'

Report: Comey Compares Trump to a 'Mob Boss'

By    |   Wednesday, 11 April 2018 11:07 AM EDT

Former FBI director James Comey, who was dramatically fired by President Donald Trump last year, is comparing the commander in chief to a "mob boss."

The reference is made in what is being promised to be a bombshell interview to be aired Sunday during a special edition of ABC News’s "20/20."

In a promo for the interview released Wednesday by ABC, interviewer George Stephanopoulos asks Comey, "How strange is it for you to sit here and compare the president to a mob boss?"

A source present at the taping tells Axios the interview is "going to shock the president and his team" and "will add more meat to the charges swirling around Trump."

The source also told Axios that Comey answered every question asked of him.

The interview kicks off a book promotion tour for Comey’s new memoir, "A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership," to be published Tuesday by Flatiron Books.

Flatiron says that in the book, which is being kept under wraps until publication date, Comey shares his experiences from some of the highest-stakes situations of his career in the past two decades of American government, exploring what good, ethical leadership looks like, and how it drives sound decisions …

"From prosecuting the Mafia and Martha Stewart to helping change the Bush administration's policies on torture and electronic surveillance, overseeing the Hillary Clinton e-mail investigation as well as ties between the Trump campaign and Russia, Comey has been involved in some of the most consequential cases and policies of recent history."

The book also is expected to delve into Comey’s allegation that, Trump allegedly tried to get him to shut down at least part of the FBI’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election before firing him.
