Report: It Took 59 Days for ISIS to Get Anti-Tank Weapon Bought by US

Weapons bought by the U.S. military in 2015 ended up in the arsenal of ISIS, including an anti-tank missile that took just 59 days to get into the hands of the terrorist group, NBC News reported.

NBC, citing a study released by Conflict Armament Research (CAR), reported the anti-tank weapon was purchased by the U.S. Army from a Bulgarian manufacturer in December of 2015.

By February, it was discovered on the battleground in Ramadi, NBC reported.

"This is extremely short," Damien Spleeters, CAR's researcher for Iraq and Syria, told NBC News. "It means that there are not many intermediaries in this chain of custody."

Arms broker Kiesler Police Supply Co. was used to deliver the weapon from Bulgaria to the Army, and NBC reported it's not clear how the weapon was diverted or by whom.

But CAR told NBC that some Syria rebel groups supported by the U.S. diverted arms provided by the U.S. to ISIS.

Other weapons were found in the aftermath of the ouster of ISIS terrorists, according to NBC's report:

• Chinese-manufactured machine guns laced with amphetamines.
• Modified drones.
• Rifle made in Nazi Germany.
