Iran is stalling a request for travel visas that would allow three members of Congress to visit American prisoners and check weapons plants for compliance with the nuclear arms deal hammered out last year, The Washington Free Beacon reports.

"It has now been more than two months since we applied, and we would appreciate a decision on our application," Reps. Mike Pompeo of Kansas, Lee Zeldin of New York and Frank LoBiondo of New Jersey wrote to Iran's foreign minister in a letter obtained by the newspaper.

"If you reject our visa applications, please provide an explanation."

The Beacon says Iran officials have been dragging their feet and missed a self-imposed deadline to respond to the congressional request.

A senior congressional source told the Beacon: "Why the Iranian government has delayed so much, and why the U.S. State Department has not stepped in to help facilitate their applications is beyond me."
