Outgoing House Speaker Paul Ryan will have a "mixed" legacy — failing to repeal Obamacare but helping to get a GOP tax cut bill passed, according to political commentator Jeffrey Lord.

In remarks Wednesday on Newsmax TV's "America Talks Live," The American Spectator contributing editor said he is "disappointed" in the Wisconsin Republican lawmaker.

"Both Paul Ryan and I  worked for [the late New York GOP Rep.] Jack Kemp," Lord said. "We sort of crossed paths, but never really met. But I always thought  he was terrific and I've just been very disappointed."

Lord said compared to Rep. Nancy Pelosi's ability to get the Affordable Care Act passed when she led the House during the early Obama administration, Ryan has fallen far short.

"Paul Ryan had the same job [but] couldn't repeal [Obamacare] and can't do the wall," he said, referring to additional funding that President Donald Trump has wanted to build a border wall.

"On and on goes this list and that's just so disappointing," he continued. "He did get tax cuts through, that's good. But there are other things on the agenda . . . It just is is too bad, and I think his legacy is going to be mixed at best."
