Republican members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee are putting the screws to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey — giving him until the end of Friday to decide if he will voluntarily testify before the panel Sept. 5, Axios reported.
In a call with a Twitter lobbyist Thursday, committee staffers gave Dorsey three options, Axios reported; either testify voluntarily Sept. 5 when he is also due to go before the Senate Intelligence Committee on election interferences, testify voluntarily during the week of Sept. 24, or face a subpoena.
Dorsey has until close of business Friday to decide, Axios reported, citing an unnamed source. A spokesperson for the company declined to comment to the news outlet.
According to Axios, House Republicans are frustrated over what they see as censorship of conservative accounts on Twitter and other online platforms.
Earlier Thursday, the Senate intel panel's chairman, Sen. Richard Burr, R-N.C., turned down an offer from Google for their senior vice president and general counsel Kent Walker to testify alongside Facebook and Twitter in September — telling The Washington Post: "I told them I wasn't accepting the senior vice president."
