LA Prankster Alters Sign to Read 'HOLLYWeeD'

The Hollywood sign was altered overnight New Year's Day to read "HOLLYWeeD," the Los Angeles Times reported Sunday. 

A "lone individual" climbed up Mount Lee and scaled the sign's built-in ladders and hung tarps over the O's to change them to E's, according to security footage, Sgt. Guy Juneau of the LAPD’s Security Services division told the Times.

California voted Nov. 8 to legalize recreational marijuana.

It is not the first time the Hollywood sign had been altered, according to the report. Tweets from an assistant managing editor of the Times showed some past hackings.
