The presidency of Hillary Clinton was supposed to be inevitable, but campaign season has proven tough for the Democratic front-runner.
Scandals both past and present continue to make headlines across the media, and Clinton's chief rival, Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, has gone from being little more than an afterthought to a serious contender.
Gathered below are eight things dogging the Clinton campaign this week.

1. Bernie Sanders pulls ahead in New Hampshire polling — "Bernie Sanders' lead over Hillary Clinton in New Hampshire is on the rise, with the Vermont senator leading the former secretary of state by 27 points, 60 percent to
33 percent," CNN reported Tuesday. The poll, conducted before Sunday night's Democratic debate, could spell major trouble for Clinton in the second primary state.
2. Bernie Sanders' debate victory —
The Washington Post's survey of post-debate coverage found that Sanders "prevailed, even if narrowly" in the last Democratic matchup before the Iowa caucuses.
CBS News reported, additionally, that "Bernie Sanders was the most-searched Democratic candidate on Google during the debate." On Google, the top two questions about Clinton were: "Will Hillary Clinton get prosecuted?" and "Will Hillary Clinton get the nomination?" In marked contrast, the top questions about Sanders were: "Why is Bernie Sanders so popular?" and "Can Bernie Sanders win?"
3. Email scandal: SAP-level intelligence found on server — Clinton was revealed Tuesday to have had intelligence from a "special access program," or SAP, on her homebrew email server, a classification level higher than "top secret."
The revelation came after Fox News obtained a letter about the finding that the Intelligence Community Inspector General sent to senior lawmakers in the Senate on Jan. 14.
4. Weiner documentary —
The New York Times got an inside look at "Weiner," this week, a new documentary about disgraced congressman Anthony Weiner and his wife, Huma Abedin, who is Clinton's top aide. The film "provides an unfettered look at the implosion of Mr. Weiner’s mayoral campaign and a wrenching inside account of the couple’s interactions in the aftermath of his second explicit texting scandal" and "comes at an uncomfortable time for Mrs. Clinton’s presidential campaign," the newspaper wrote. "Weiner" will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on Sunday.

5. "13 Hours" Benghazi movie hits theaters — In regard to the new movie that premiered Friday,
USA Today declared that, "Americans can decide who they want to believe: the people who actually lived through the 13-hour attack or the bungling and partisan bureaucrats who have yet to take full responsibility for the tragedy that happened on their watch." While Michael Bay does not depict then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in the film, everyone knows she was one of those partisan bureaucrats.
6. Feminist icons disturbed by Clinton sex scandals — Lena Dunham, a Clinton campaign-backer and creator of HBO's "Girls," pitched the former first lady to voters this month, just as she did for Barack Obama in 2008. "But at an Upper East Side dinner party a few months back, Ms. Dunham expressed more
conflicted feelings," The New York Times reported Wednesday. "She told the guests, at the Park Avenue apartment of Richard Plepler, the chief executive of HBO, that she was disturbed by how, in the 1990s, the Clintons and their allies discredited women who said they had had sexual encounters with or been sexually assaulted by former President Bill Clinton." Alexis Isabel Moncada, the 17-year-old founder of Feminist Culture, as well as Camille Paglia, a feminist author and university professor, have also expressed reservations similar to Dunham's.
7. Trump's attacks are landing —
Last week, CBS News reported that "Trump has spent weeks attacking former President Bill Clinton on the campaign trail, calling him 'one of the great abusers of the world' and comparing him to Bill Cosby, who is facing sexual assault allegations." After Clinton accused Trump of having a "penchant for sexism" in late December, Trump turned her words on Bill Clinton, saying that "he's demonstrated a penchant for sexism." He also warned Hillary that she will have a hard time playing the "war on women" card considering her and Bill's past behavior toward women.
8. Liberal grassroots are abandoning her — MoveOn.org, an influential liberal group, endorsed Bernie Sanders last week.
ABC News reported that the organization was originally formed to defend President Bill Clinton, "urging Congress to censure the president and move on to more pressing matters facing the American people."
Politico also reported last week that liberal magazine The Nation endorsed Bernie Sanders, the third time in its history that it has endorsed any candidate for president.
