Greta Van Susteren said Thursday on Twitter that she was "just wondering, so what happened?" after she was abruptly cancelled by MSNBC because of low ratings.

Here is her post:

Hours earlier, Van Susteren tweeted she was out at the cable network, less than six months after she was hired after 14 years at Fox News:

Van Susteren's "For the Record" program has failed to hold on to the ratings of its 5 p.m. lead-in, "Meet the Press Daily," Adweek.com reported.

The move comes as MSNBC is seeing some of it best ratings in its 21-year history, according to the report.

MSNBC president Phil Griffin said chief legal correspondent Ari Melber would take over Van Susteren's time slot.

He currently hosts "The Point" weekend program and will begin in the 6 p.m. hour next month.

"We are grateful to her and wish her the best," Griffin said in a statement on Twitter:

"MSNBC and Greta Van Susteren have decided to part ways," he said. "Greta is a well-regarded television veteran and one of only a few broadcasters who can say they've hosted shows at all three major cable news networks."

According to Adweek, "For the Record" was the 30th-ranked cable news show for her time slot, with 980,000 total viewers, for the second quarter of the year.

She trailed "Special Report" with Bret Baier on Fox News (No. 5) and "The Situation Room" with Wolf Blitzer on CNN (No. 23).

In addition, the program brought in only 207,000 viewers in the key 25-54 age group for the quarter, Adweek reports.

Van Susteren left Fox News last September after her contract expired.

Her "On the Record" program was Fox's No. 6 show in the second quarter of last year, averaging 1.749 million total viewers and 275,000 in the key age group.

That was her last full quarter on the cable network, Adweek reported.
