Sen. Grassley Asks if WH Staff Involved in Secret Service Scandal

Sen. Chuck Grassley, ranking Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, wants to know whether the White House staff participated in the Secret Service’s prostitution scandal in Colombia, The Washington Times reports.

In a letter written Friday after a committee staff briefing, Grassley posed questions about the staff to Secret Service Director Mark Sullivan and Acting Inspector General Charles Edwards. Grassley cited the close working relationship among members of other White House advance teams and the Secret Service as the reason for his writing the letter.

The senator wanted to know particularly whether the Secret Service reserved or shared rooms with President Barack Obama’s advance team or the White House Communications Agency.

“Did the Secret Service reserve rooms at the Hotel Caribe or other hotels in Cartagena, Colombia, for representatives of the WHCA or the White House Advance Team,” Grassley asked in his letter. “If so, have records for overnight guests for those entities been pulled as part of the investigation conducted by [Office of Professional Responsibility] or [Office of the Inspector General]? If not, why not?”
