President Donald Trump’s attorney, Rudy Giuliani, on Thursday clarified his statement that he “never said there was collusion” between the Trump campaign and Russia, saying he “has no knowledge” of anyone in the campaign colluding.
Giuliani told CNN’s Chris Cuomo Wednesday night that he “never” said that no one in the Trump campaign colluded with Russia following a report that former campaign chairman Paul Manafort shared data with a person linked to Russian intelligence, and said that any collusion that may have occurred “happened a long time ago.”
"I represent only President Trump not the Trump campaign," Giuliani told The New York Times’ Maggie Haberman in a statement on Thursday.
"There was no collusion by President Trump in any way, shape or form. Likewise, I have no knowledge of any collusion by any of the thousands of people who worked on the campaign. The only knowledge I have in this regard is the collusion of the Clinton campaign with Russia which has so far been ignored."
Trump has said multiple times that no one in his campaign colluded with Russia, and has repeatedly cast doubt on Russia’s interference in the 2016 election, and describes special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation as a “witch hunt.”
