A Georgia judge has ordered Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., to give testimony before a grand jury investigating the conduct of former President Donald Trump and his allies after the 2020 election.
According to WSB-TV in Atlanta, Fulton County Superior Judge Robert McBurney wrote in his order that the "court finds that Lindsey Graham is a necessary and material witness" in the special grand jury's investigation.
The court order mandates that Graham testifies in August.
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has been trying to compel Graham, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, and other members of Trump's campaign legal team to testify before the special grand jury, The Associated Press noted.
Willis has alleged there was "a multi-state, coordinated plan by the Trump campaign to influence the results of the November 2020 election in Georgia and elsewhere," the AP said.
Trump and his allies have long denied any wrongdoing.
Graham's grand jury subpoena had noted that he had two known calls with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger following the 2020 election.
"During the telephone calls, the witness questioned Secretary Raffensperger and his staff about reexamining certain absentee ballots cast in Georgia in order to explore the possibility of a more favorable outcome for former President Donald Trump," the subpoena said according to the Washington Examiner.
