Ex-MSNBC ultra-liberal journalist Ed Schultz, whose show was canceled last summer, has turned up at RT America, the news network owned and operated by the Russian government, and he plans to continue with his message of support for the middle class.
"For decades the American middle class has been railroaded by Washington politics," Schultz says, from the middle of a set of railroad tracks, in his show's announcement video, posted on RT's YouTube channel. "Big money corporate interests have drowned out a lot of voices. That’s how it is in the news culture now. That’s where I come in."
Schultz's "The Ed Show" was the last of three shows cancelled last year by MSNBC. He did not appear on the show's final episode.
His new prime-time daily news show, "The News with Ed Schultz," will be recorded in RT's Washington D.C. studios and debut on jan. 25.
"Ed Schultz is one of the best-known and well-respected progressive commentators in America," RT Editor-in-Chief Margarita Simonyan, said
in a statement announcing the show this week, and Schultz called RT the "go-to channel for an alternative perspective on current events."
Meanwhile, Don Irvine, who chairs the conservative media watchdog group Accuracy in Media, said in a blog post that Schults and RT will be "very happy together," reports The Washington TImes, as "how hard can it be to become a Russian apologist after spending all those years being a liberal apologist?"
