Eagles Players Ill: Flu-Like Setback Just Before Super Bowl

Several Philadelphia Eagles' players are suffering from a flu-like illness just days before the biggest game of their lives in Super Bowl LII in Minneapolis Sunday – and that has made their fans on social media sort of suspicious.

Starters Tim Jernigan, a defensive tackle, and cornerback Ronald Darby could not attend media availability on Thursday, ESPN reported, and Jernigan's illness was serious enough for him to miss practice on Wednesday.

Linebacker Mychal Kendrick told reporters that he was getting over his illness while running back Kenjon Barner missed practice time last week, ESPN said.

"I'm getting over it right now," Kendrick told reporters, per ESPN. "It's like a cold, dude. I don't know. The whole team has it, though.

Urgent: Do you approve of Pres. Trump’s job performance? Vote Here Now! ESPN said Kendrick clarified his "whole team has it" statement, saying he did not mean it literally.

"I don't think it had anything to do with us being out here," Kendrick added. "I think it started sometime last week. Something we've got to get through. We'll be fine. It's not that big of a deal."

If not the flu it could be the adenovirus going around that seems to be competing with the flu to make everyone sick.

The illnesses harkens back to the Eagles last Super Bowl appearance in 2005 when star quarterback Donovan McNabb was rumored to be ill and was caught on television in the game's critical fourth quarter coughing in the huddle, according to The Associated Press.

The Patriots would beat the Eagles in that Super Bowl 24-21 after Philadelphia's final quarter rally fell short.

Some could not help but joke about the illness on social media, kidding (we think) that the illness may have been planned by the Patriots.
