In her new book coming out next week, Donna Brazile excoriates former Democratic National Committee chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz for turning over the party to Hillary Clinton in the summer of 2015.

In an excerpt of "Hacks: "The Inside Story … That Put Donald Trump in the White House" published in Politico, Brazile also slams former President Barack Obama's "neglect" that left the DNC "in significant debt."

The easy answer for Wasserman Schultz, Brazile writes: Hand the party and its finances over to Hillary — in August of 2015, a full year before she officially earned the nomination, unheard of in party politics.

"Debbie was not a good manager. She hadn't been very interested in controlling the party—she let Clinton's headquarters in Brooklyn do as it desired so she didn't have to inform the party officers how bad the situation was," Brazile writes.

Realizing the truth "broke my heart," she added.

Brazile took over as interim chair of the DNC after Wasserman Schultz abruptly resigned days after the Democratic National Convention.

Brazile claims she — and other DNC officials — had no idea of the agreement Clinton's campaign made with the DNC to keep it afloat in exchange for giving her the keys to the party, essentially freezing out her Democratic primary challenger, Bernie Sanders.

"The agreement — signed by Amy Dacey, the former CEO of the DNC, and Robby Mook with a copy to Marc Elias — specified that in exchange for raising money and investing in the DNC, Hillary would control the party's finances, strategy, and all the money raised," Brazile writes.

"Her campaign had the right of refusal of who would be the party communications director, and it would make final decisions on all the other staff. The DNC also was required to consult with the campaign about all other staffing, budgeting, data, analytics, and mailings," Brazile wrote.
