President Barack Obama's is "shrinking" the influence of the United States by re-establishing ties with Cuba, conservative filmmaker and author Dinesh D'Souza told
Newsmax TV.
"This becomes a little bit of a vindication of the thesis of the movie '2016: [Obama's America],' where I argued that Obama was a militant, anti-colonialist," D'Souza said Thursday on "The Steve Malzberg Show."

"At the time, there were even some conservatives who felt he was a civil rights guy and he's much more than a product of Selma and Montgomery than he is a product of the Third World.
"But we see now when we listen carefully to Obama's rhetoric, that this anti-colonialism stuff is a bigger theme with him than anything that's happened in this country."
D'Souza, now serving eight months of community service and five years of probation after pleading guilty to charges of using straw donors to support a New York Senate campaign, maintains he was targeted by the Obama administration for his political beliefs.
D'Souza also weighed in on former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush's announcement that he is "actively" looking at the possibility of running for the GOP presidential nomination.
"My take on Jeb Bush is really simple: whoever can beat the Democrats is going to be the one that I support for president. This is a case where in a sense to me the American Dream is at stake," he said.
"I'm going to be looking for the candidate that's the most conservative that could win. If it's not the ideal candidate, it's OK to because it seems to me that Congress can drive the agenda.
"We're looking not necessarily for the person we most want to win we're looking for the person who can win."
He added that the Democratic Party is "pushing even further left and looking at Obama and Hillary [Clinton] as sellouts and looking at [Massachusetts Sen.] Elizabeth Warren as sort of the conscience of the party."
"We're beginning to see essentially how polarized and how far from the mainstream this party has become and what a demented ideology is now considered mainstream among the progressives and among the Democrats," D'Souza said.
