If Republicans get their way, the House Administration Committee's investigation into Planned Parenthood could exceed $1 million,
The Hill reports.
Democrats say the GOP-led committee is asking for another $500,000 to expand the probe into last year's video controversy that alleged the pro-abortion organization was making money on fetal tissue donations.
Since the panel has found no wrongdoing by Planned Parenthood, the committee's Democrats are fighting the request for additional monies and demanding that the committee be shut down altogether.
"This has not been — nor will it ever be — a fact-based investigation," Democratic committee member Jan Schakowsky said in a statement to The Hill. "Instead the panel is being run as a taxpayer-funded arm of anti-abortion groups, in pursuit of a partisan, anti-science, and anti-health care agenda."
