Former South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint on Sunday described Obamacare as a "cash-for-clunkers-style healthcare plan" and said the administration lied to Americans in order to get the law passed.
"Obamacare was passed under false pretenses," DeMint said on CNN's "State of the Union."
"American people were lied to. Federal healthcare is not going to provide good healthcare to Americans. You can't find a federal program that's working effectively."

DeMint, who currently heads the Heritage Foundation, said Obamacare not only will do a disservice to the uninsured in the United States, it also will diminish the quality of their care.
"Obamacare is clearly a law that's going to hurt the American people," DeMint said. "The president is not implementing it fairly. The president is arbitrarily implementing the law. That's not law in America. We need to stop it, and this is the time that it needs to be stopped."
