The marriage debate is over, Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz declares – but a landmark
Supreme Court decision legalizing same-sex marriage still managed to spark a heated exchange on the ABC talk show "The View."
"The marriage equality decision is settled," Wasserman-Schultz tells The Daily Signal in a videotaped interview posted Wednesday.
"Love is love and now everyone in America enjoys the protection of the United States Constitution when it comes to who they choose to marry legally."

Though the High Court decision "doesn’t mean that churches and religious institutions have to conduct same-sex marriages and it doesn’t mean that religious institutions aren’t able to practice their own values," Wasserman-Schultz maintained the Christian bakers who refused to make a cake for a lesbian wedding were way out of line.
Oregon bakers Aaron and Melissa Klein were ordered last week to pay $135,000 for emotional damages to a lesbian couple for whom the Kleins refused service because of their religious convictions.
"[I]n this country, we do not allow people to discriminate," the DNC chairwoman said. "You shouldn’t be able to turn people away based on who they are."
The topic produced some sparks on "The View" Wednesday between Candace Cameron Bure, former star of "Full House" and former "Cosby Show" and "That's So Raven" star Raven-Symoné.
Raven-Symoné vehemently argued the Kleins' refusal to serve the same-sex couple illustrated the kind of discrimination issue battled during the civil rights movement.
Bure defended the couple.
"I don’t think this is discrimination at all," she said. "This is about freedom of association. It’s about constitutional rights. It’s about First Amendment rights. We do have the right to still choose who we associate with."

"They had a problem with the ceremony because that… was what conflicted with their religious beliefs," she added. "[I]t wasn't against their sexual orientation."
As tempers flared, Bure pleaded: "Here's another thing I wish we could do… respect that we have opposing views."
