A cruise line is offering free evacuations to those stranded on Grand Bahama Island following the devastation caused by Hurricane Dorian, reports The Palm Beach Post.

The Florida-based Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line sails for Freeport, Bahamas, on Thursday night with supplies, first responders, and volunteers. Any Bahamian resident trying to return with the ship to South Florida are allowed to travel onboard for free.

"Apart from the Bahamas, we have no other home, so it was like the destruction was in our backyard," CEO Oneil Khosa told CNN. "We felt like we had to do this for the people of the Bahamas and the island of Grand Bahama, especially given our history with the island."

The death toll from Dorian in the Bahamas climbed to 20 people Thursday and the storm has left thousands of desperate hurricane survivors seeking help.

Emergency personnel, including firemen and electricians, will also make the trek to the Bahamas.

"We have a lot of people on the ship today who will have a major positive impact on the recovery of the island," Khosa said.

The Norwegian and Royal Caribbean cruise lines are also assisting in the aftermath and will head to the Bahamas with water, cleaning supplies, generators, clean sheets, and towels.

Both will also donate at least $1 million each to the relief efforts in the islands. Disney is donating more than $1 million to relief efforts.
