Colorado Gov. Mocked for 'Feliz Navidad' Video

By    |   Tuesday, 26 December 2023 09:49 AM EST

Colorado Democrat Gov. Jared Polis has been accused of pandering to migrants in his state after posting a holiday message in which he sings in Spanish.

Polis on Sunday night posted a video of him singing "Feliz Navidad" a cappella to his Spanish account on X.

The governor's message was posted two days after CBS Colorado reported that 16 busloads of migrants arrived in Denver.

"Pander harder; your legal constituents hate you," the Steak for Breakfast posted on X in reply to Polis' holiday video.

"It's cultural appropriation to pander in this manner," X user Mstrchrle wrote.

Other users also criticized the openly gay 48-year-old governor.

"I know certain drugs are legal in Colorado. Perhaps this explains this behavior. Lol," Lowkey Rey 2.0 posted.

"No wonder why Colorado is going down the tubes So sad for such beautiful state," Chef Eric Bonillo wrote.

"I didn't need a reminder of why I left that state, but it's still nice to know I did the right thing," WyGuy posted.

"As cringe as this is, it doesn't begin to compare to the damage you've done to this state," Kill The Question wrote.

Roughly 3,800 migrants are living in Denver shelters after at least 340 had been dropped off in Denver late last week. They were bused from Texas after traveling from Venezuela, Columbia, and Guatemala, CBS Colorado reported.

"We can run out of room," Denver Human Services spokesman Jon Ewing told the outlet. "We can run out of resources. We are already limited as it is. It strains an already strained system even further."

Many of the migrants had arrived with children.

"We know that everything is much more difficult with a child," Ewing told CBS Colorado.

"This is why we have given families more time. We don't want children on the streets. We don't want anyone on the streets."

Even the small town of Carbondale, Colorado, outside Aspen, has been forced to deal with the migrant crisis. Nearly 125 migrants effectively have increased the town's unhoused population by approximately 500% and increased the town's population by 2%," Mayor Ben Bohmfalk said, The Washington Post reported.

Earlier this year, Polis bused migrants to places such as Chicago and New York. He claimed to be helping asylum seekers "reach their final destination.”
