Climate Group Lists Chinese Legislator on Advisory Council

A nonprofit focused on promoting green energy as an alternative to methane gas lists a member of the Chinese legislature as a member of its advisory council.

Climate Imperative lists Wang Yi, the Deputy Director-General at the Institute of Policy and Management, Chinese Academy of Sciences, on the organization's advisory council.

Yi is also Deputy of the National People's Congress of China and sits on the legislature's Standing Committee. A source told the Washington Free Beacon that the panel is "controlled and directed by the" Chinese Communist Party, as well as the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development.

Climate Imperative launched about a year ago with a set budget of roughly $180 million per year for five years.

Energy reporter Robert Bryce noted in a Substack post that according to an unnamed source, "the majority of the money is coming from" billionaires John Doerr, a Silicon Valley venture capitalist, and Laurene Powell Jobs, the widow of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, both of whom sit on the group's board.
