A Chinese warship running aground on a reef 124 miles from the Philippines last week was the latest sign of growing tension in the oil-rich South China Sea. Six Asian countries, including China, are laying claim to the sea. And while China’s strategy of divide-and-conquer has so far been working, the territorial dispute has escalated, making a military confrontation more likely.
