House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., said the deadly concert attack in Great Britain hits especially close for him, The Hill reported.
A man set off a bomb at the Manchester Arena following an Ariana Grande concert — killing at least 22 people, including an 8-year-old girl, and injuring 59 others, according to the BBC.
"Maybe it's because I'm a father of teenagers, but that keeps me coming back to this: Think about the kids who had this date on their calendars circled, think about the kids who got their parents to agree to take them to this concert, or maybe it was a birthday present or a surprise," Ryan said.
"Think about the kids who went to the concert with their friends on the agreement that they would get together and meet their parents outside right after. Those are the kinds of conversations that go on with families with teenagers, and then all those moms and dads waiting outside when disaster struck, many rushing inside hoping to God and fearing the worst."
Earlier Ryan had taken to Twitter to offer prayers for the victims.
