President Donald Trump's call for National Guard troops to protect the U.S.-Mexico border until funding is obtained to build a wall flies in the face of longtime Republican ideology, veteran Democratic strategist David Goodfriend told Newsmax TV on Thursday.

"There is little bit of delicious irony here," Goodfriend told host Miranda Khan on Thursday's "America Talks Live."
