The two billionaires for the Democratic Party's presidential nomination spent a combined $341 million last quarter and donated even more to their own campaigns.

Data released Friday shows that former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg's campaign spent about $188 million in the quarter — and he only joined the race in early November, one month into the three-month period. Steyer, a former hedge fund manager who became an environmental activist, spent roughly $153 million.

As The Hill noted, the two candidates gave their campaigns a combined $355 million during the same period.

Steyer is accepting donations but Bloomberg is not, opting to self-fund his entire presidential effort.

Bloomberg's campaign spending was higher than any other candidate in the race. Among his expenses were $132 million on TV ads, $8.1 million on online ads, and $3.3 million on polling.

Bloomberg has surged in the polls in recent weeks and, according to the RealClear Politics average, is fourth in the race with 8% support. Steyer is lagging behind with 1.8% support.
