Bill Clinton is among the group of political observers who think Republicans are likely to take over the Senate on November 4. But the former Democratic president obviously isn't happy about it.
"They may skate in this election," Clinton said while stumping for Democratic candidate in Florida on Sunday,
The Palm Beach Post reported. "They may get away with all this money they've put in to convince everybody if you've got a 'D' behind your name you’re a terrible person. But it’s not good for America."
Clinton was in Palm Beach Gardens to campaign for Rep. Patrick Murphy, who holds a comfortable lead over Republican Carl Domino, even though the district leans GOP.
Democrats have been embracing Clinton and his wife, Hillary, while shying away from campaign appearances with President Barack Obama to avoid being tied to his unpopular polices.
"Because the president’s approval rating's down a little bit, every Republican is trying to put him on the ballot instead of Patrick Murphy or fill-in-the-blank," Clinton told the crowd in Florida.
"We historically don't do very well in midterms, we Democrats, because a different America shows up for midterms than in the general election," Clinton said.
The former president also made campaign appearances in the state with Democrat Gwen Graham, who is running for Congress, and with Democratic gubernatorial nominee Charlie Crist.
