Ben Carson Slams AG Lynch For Comparing NC Bathroom Law to Jim Crow

Former GOP presidential candidate Ben Carson didn't buy Attorney General Loretta Lynch's comparison of North Carolina's bathroom law to the Jim Crow laws of the pre-civil rights era.

"That's what they always say," Carson said Monday on Fox News Channel's "Your World with Neil Cavuto." "Everything is like Jim Crow. Everything is like racism and segregation and slavery. What a bunch of crap."

"We saw it in the Jim Crow laws that followed the Emancipation Proclamation. We saw it in the fierce and widespread resistance to Brown v. Board of Education, Lynch said Monday in announcing the Justice Department filing a lawsuit over the state's law that requires transgendered people to use the bathroom of the sex on their birth certificate rather than the one they identify with.

Carson, who is black, said liberals make the comparison to gain sympathy, "but thinking people know better."

The retired neurosurgeon said people should "go back to recognizing data and science. You know, we know what men are, and we know what women are, and we’ve known that for thousands of years."

Accommodations can be made for "some people who are confused about it," he said, "but it doesn't have to involve everybody."
