Ben Carson on Thursday continued his defense of his words on "Meet the Press" Sunday when he said a Muslim should not serve as president.

Carson has since clarified that he has no problem with a person with a Muslim background being president, but not someone who places Islam over the U.S. Constitution.

"This is America. We have our own set of values and principles," Carson said Thursday on Fox News Channel's "The O'Reilly Factor." "I'm not willing to subjugate that to another belief system, to another philosophy.

"This is America," Carson continued. "If you want to live in another system, go somewhere else. You are welcome to be here, but no one else gets to change who we are."

Host Bill O'Reilly asked Carson whether the tenets of Islam line up with the tenets of Judeo-Christian philosophy that the Founding Fathers used to write the Constitution.

"I don't believe that they do," Carson said. "When I look at Islamic nations, what I see are people who don't give women equal rights. And some places women aren't even allowed to drive."
