Rep. Austin Pfluger, R-Texas, speaking on Newsmax TV on Wednesday posed a question to President Joe Biden’s administration: “Why are you opening the border and closing schools when those priorities should be flipped?”
Pfluger, whose district is located less than 100 miles from the border, said that Biden is continuing the Obama Administration’s policies.
“It's hypocrisy at its best… the real effect right here is on districts like mine and the rest of Texas and all the Southern states, is that you've got the human trafficking, the drug trafficking, the organized crime that can just… manipulate their way through. They know the laws and they're gonna use those to the best of their ability to carry out criminal activity, and the Biden administration is complicit in allowing them to do so.”
Pfluger went on to praise Texas Gov. Greg Abbott for allowing the state to reopen businesses despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
He told "John Bachman Now" that, “it's absolutely the right call. I am proud of our district, the local elected officials, the mayors and the judges who have fought to keep our small businesses open. The schools have been open since last August and the rest of the country should take note. We're doing it safely. We haven't seen the spikes that everybody predicted and so [it was] absolutely the right decision for Gov. Abbott to do it statewide.”
