A new fitness wearable contains artificial intelligence technology that provides audio feedback to users and acts as a coach during a workout.

LifeBeam's Vi has sensors that rest on either side of a user's neck. They measure heart rate, running cadence (the number of strides), speed, and other variables. Geared toward runners, the Vi's female voice speaks through the user's earbuds and provides feedback and direction based on the measurements it takes.

"We focused on running, because it's the most accessible exercise," LifeBeam CEO Omri Yoffee said during a press event, Vocativ reported.

The Vocativ reviewer wrote the voice in her test pair even asked questions like whether it was pronouncing her name properly.

The Vi wirelessly connects to a user's cell phone via the Vi Fitness app. LifeBeam, Vocativ reports, has security in place to help keep personal data safe.

The debate around artificial intelligence (A.I.) is fierce. Supporters of the technology see it as the future and talk about the benefits it can offer. Critics, however, claim A.I., which includes robots, could eventually cause havoc across the world.
