Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., has suddenly joined top contenders in a crowded field of potential Democratic presidential candidates, placing fourth in a new Iowa caucus poll, Politico reported Monday.

In the Focus on Rural America survey, former Vice President Joe Biden led the field with 30 percent, followed by Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., with 13 percent, and Rep. Beto O’Rourke, D-Texas, who captured 11 percent. Klobuchar pulled in 10 percent.

However, Biden and Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., who placed just below Klobuchar with 9 percent, both saw their numbers slide 7 points among potential Democratic Iowa caucus-goers since September, Politico reported.

The apparent rise of Klobuchar and O'Rourke — along with signs of a Biden and Warren fade — suggests Iowa Democrats are making way for new faces, Politico reported.

In the Focus on Rural America survey, 47 percent said they wanted a presidential contender who was "a younger candidate with fresh ideas" versus 31 percent who preferred an older candidate who has a "lifetime of experience."

The poll surveyed Iowa voters likely to attend the Democratic presidential caucus in 2020, and had a margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percent.
