The FBI "has lost credibility" and Director James Comey "should be ashamed of himself and should resign" — because "he put the fix in" with the Hillary Clinton email probe, former New York Sen. Alfonse D'Amato told Newsmax TV on Tuesday.
"He is a person who I believe is a stranger to the truth," D'Amato, 79, who served from 1981 to 1999, told J.D. Hayworth on "Newsmax Prime" in an interview. "Anyone else would've been indicted multiple times, but Hillary Clinton obviously had the fix in."

D'Amato, now head of the Park Strategies lobbying firm, also pointed to the scandal surrounding the nearly $500,000 Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe donated to the wife of FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe's Senate campaign last year.
Dr. Jill McCabe lost her bid, and her husband was promoted at the agency and given an "oversight" role in the Clinton email probe.
McAuliffe has long been friends with Bill and Hillary Clinton.
"This guy rose shortly after that donation to his wife to the No. 2 position in charge of the investigation," D'Amato told Hayworth. "Of course, he'll say 'I had nothing to do with it.'
"The fix was in — and they're ruining a reputation of a great organization that we all grew up loving, admiring, and talking about.
"I still do admire those agents who work day and night to keep our country safe.
"What they've done from the top they have criminalized their conduct," he said. "If that was a legitimate investigation, [Clinton] would have been indicted for multiple lies and so would her assistants, who they gave immunity to.
"I've never heard of such an incredible scandalous thing.
"You want to talk about why people are angry?" D'Amato asked. "They should be angry because government has failed them."
