President Donald Trump posted on Twitter Saturday an attack on the "fake news" media for not saying that his endorsement of Alabama senatorial candidate Luther Strange increased Strange's poll numbers.

Here’s his tweet:

Strange, appointed in February to temporarily fill the Senate seat vacated by Attorney General Jeff Sessions, lost the special election runoff to former Supreme Court judge Roy Moore.

Trump backed Strange at a Sept. 22 rally in Huntsville, saying that he was doing so because the interim senator backed failed GOP efforts to repeal and replace Obamacare.

"Luther did that for me, and I remembered Luther," the president told a rally in Huntsville. "We have to be loyal in life.

"There is something called loyalty."

By the following Sunday, however, Strange's Real Clear Politics composite average was behind Moore's, 41.5 percent to 52.5 percent.

Moore, who was endorsed by former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, beat Strange on Tuesday, 54.6-45.4 percent.

Moore faces Democrat Doug Jones in a December general election.
