Dr. Drew Pinsky, the physician and addiction specialist who hosted a popular medical advice show on a sister network of CNN, was recently fired after speculating negatively on Hillary Clinton's health and medical care.
Earlier last month, Dr. Pinsky appeared on KABC radio's "McIntyre in the Morning" and revealed he and other doctors had reviewed medical evaluations of Clinton's health that had been released by her campaign. "Based on the information that she has provided and her doctors have provided, we were gravely concerned not just about her health, but her health care," Pinsky said in a transcript of the show provided by The Washington Free Beacon. "Both of us concluded that if we were providing the care that she was receiving, we'd be ashamed to show up in a doctor's lounge. We'd be laughed out. She's receiving sort of 1950-level care, by our evaluation."
Dr. Pinsky was doing what he was paid to do: Comment on medical matters, including as they relate to one of the candidates who could become president of the United States.
Since when did this become a reason to get fired? It’s incredible. His speculation was based on his own knowledge of medicine, in consultation with colleagues, drawing on the information released by Clinton’s own campaign.
It brings to mind the Soviet Communist regime or Hitler’s Nazi regime. Under those totalitarian dictatorships, you’d get fired (or much worse) for exposing any questions or concerns about the health of the dictator. Dr. Pinsky’s firing is a classic case of “shoot the messenger” — a practice, by the way, with which the Clintons do not appear to be unfamiliar.
Remember the waning days of the Soviet empire, before Gorbachev came to power, and a series of Russian dictators were reportedly ill and on their deathbeds before the government would disclose anything?
The American media’s handling of Hillary Clinton’s health seems not any more forthright.
Whenever it’s proposed that we fight ISIS or reconsider letting Muslims into the country, our self-righteous politicians prattle on with statements like, “That’s not who we are.” Well, is this who we now are? A nation whose free media censors itself when facts involving our ruling elites threaten their power? And we don’t even have the excuse (at least not yet) of a government agency actively suppressing speech.
The amazing thing about networks like CNN and most of America’s untrustworthy media is that they are doing it voluntarily. We still have a First Amendment. And at the moment, it’s the only thing standing between citizens and totalitarian rule.
For years, CNN has been called the Clinton News Network by critics. It’s starting to look a lot more like the Communist News Network.
Denial is an amazing and painful thing to watch. Just as heroin-addicted people in denial slowly destroy their lives, our mainstream media is committing suicide right before our eyes.
Dr. Drew’s warnings about Hillary Clinton’s health are a legitimate factor in a presidential race. It’s unlikely they will be exposed with any compelling clarity between now and Election Day. If Donald Trump raises the issue, he’s shrilly dismissed as a racist and sexist psychopath.
Throughout the campaign, Hillary Clinton’s speeches have been interrupted by coughing fits. In fact, another one happened just yesterday. Isn’t it valid for a physician employed by a major, national news network — one with no known political biases, and who probably plans to vote for Hillary Clinton himself — to investigate and rationally speculate on the state of her health?
These issues go beyond media bias. It should be headline news that CNN fired Dr. Pinsky.
Instead, it’s greeted with the same yawns as Attorney General Lynch’s decision not to indict Hillary following a private meeting between her and Hillary’s husband.
Watching today’s political events play out is like watching the corrupt fictional characters on the Netflix television series, House of Cards. Yet instead of doing corrupt and insanely absurd things quietly behind the scenes like President Underwood, CNN, Clinton and others act it out right before our very eyes.
That’s how much regard they have for the intelligence of their electorate. And most people, immersed in Facebook, Pokémon, and MSNBC, don’t seem to notice or care. Why are the polls even close?
How does Hillary Clinton stand any chance of becoming president, given all these strikes against her?
If/when when freedom of speech dies out in America, we’ll have nobody to blame but ourselves.
