In 1992, Republican President George H.W. Bush won just 11 percent of the Jewish vote in his unsuccessful re-election bid against Bill Clinton.
By 2008, GOP candidate John McCain brought in 22 percent of the Jewish vote, and in 2012 Mitt Romney won 31 percent of that vote, clearly indicating Republicans have been gaining support in the Jewish-American community.
Another sign of growing GOP support among Jews, in large part due to dissatisfaction with President Barack Obama's policies toward Israel: In April, the Jewish Republican Coalition hosted 800 members at its annual spring meeting at Sheldon Adelson's Venetian Resort Hotel Casino in Las Vegas. Two years ago, the same gathering drew less than 400.
Now, Newsmax takes a look at the "75 Most Influential Jewish Republicans."
No Jewish American is likely to be more influential when it comes to election cycles than Adelson himself.
The chairman and CEO of the Las Vegas Sands Corp., whose holdings include the Venetian, is worth more than $31 billion, according to Forbes. He reportedly contributed $100 million to Republicans in the 2012 election cycle, and has vowed to once again spend heavily in support of the GOP in 2016.
Listed below are Newsmax's 75 Most Influential Jewish Republicans. A caveat: Not everyone on the list may actually be a registered Republican. But these are individuals who have a public identity as a Republican or lean heavily toward Republican.
