Levi Johnston is famous for one reason — he’s currently the lib’s favorite stooge for getting jabs in at Sarah Palin.
The concocted celebrity has been all over the entertainment media and will probably be offered his own reality show soon.
Johnston is bragging about having secret dirt on Palin, so he’s being courted by reporters who claim to want to talk to him about his Playgirl magazine misadventures.
In a recent Los Angeles Times opinion piece titled “Levi Johnston: He's hot, he's cute, he's playing hardball,” the subtitle reads, “Who can resist this Playgirl-posing bad boy?”
But members of the press aren’t the only ones fawning over the sullied dude. Palin’s almost son-in-law has been making the L.A. social scene.
Johnston recently attended two celeb-packed parties in Hollywood. He was hovering around US Magazine's annual Hot 100 with two security guards at his side. The crowd he hung with included Adam Lambert, Audrina Patridge and Leona Lewis.
That same evening Johnston was also invited to the Chateau Marmont for GQ's Men of the Year party where he had a chance to rub elbows with Morgan Freeman, Tom Ford, Kobe Bryant, January Jones, Lindsay Lohan, Seth MacFarlane and even Clint Eastwood.
A kid from the tundra goes from relative obscurity to hobnobbing with Dirty Harry.
What a country.
2. Gitmo Terror Suspects to Use Court for Propaganda
We can thank Attorney General Eric Holder.
Supposedly making his decision without breathing a word to his boss, we now have five purported terrorists coming to stand trial in a New York City courtroom for the 9/11 attacks.
According to a lawyer for one of the defendants, the former Gitmo prisoners plan to plead not guilty.
What’s the reason? So they can do just what we knew they would — attack U.S. foreign policy by using the courtroom as a propaganda platform.
Scott Fenstermaker is Ali Abd al-Aziz Ali’s attorney, an individual for whom we must now use the word “alleged” before applying the terrorist label.
Ali, who is also known as Ammar al-Baluchi, is a nephew of the purported 9/11 mastermind, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed.
Fenstermaker told the New York Times that Mohammed, Ali, and the others plan to explain “their assessment of American foreign policy.”
“Their assessment is negative,” he said.
Don’t be surprised if, as the criminal prosecution develops and Mohammed and company demand that their case be transferred over to Judge Judy.
3. DNC Fundraising Project Warns of ‘Dangerous’ Palin
The left’s antipathy for Sarah Palin knows no bounds. But along with the hatred comes a lot of fear.
Folks at Organizing for America, the successor organization to Obama for America, a project of the Democratic National Committee, appear to be trembling in their Uggs.
An e-mail has been sent to supporters from the group’s director, Mitch Stewart. It reads as follows: “Right now, Sarah Palin is on a highly publicized, nationwide book tour, attacking President Obama and his plan for health reform at every turn.”
“It's dangerous,” supporters were told. “Remember, this is the person who coined the term ‘Death Panels’ — and opened the flood gates for months of false attacks by special interests and partisan extremists.”
The e-mail goes on to state that “whatever lie comes next” would not only be covered by the media but would be “constantly echoed by right-wing attack groups and others who are trying to defeat reform.”
In order for the group to be “ready for anything,” supporters were told of a $500,000 goal to “help push back against Sarah Palin and her allies.”
Palin was also condemned for appearing on Rush Limbaugh's radio show and described as having “outrageously — and falsely” suggested that Americans could “face jail time as punishment” if they don't buy insurance.
Potential jail time is part of Pelosi’s House version.
4. Michael Jackson’s Doctor Returning to Medical Practice
Despite an ongoing criminal investigation and cloud of suspicion over his head, for the first time since Michael Jackson’s death the pop singer’s former personal physician is returning to work in Texas.
The doctor’s attorney, Edward Chernoff, told The Associated Press that Dr. Conrad Murray will resume office hours this week at his Houston clinic.
“He has not been able to earn a living since the death of Michael Jackson,” Chernoff said of his cardiologist client.
“His legal fees are enormous and his debts have mounted to the point where it is unclear whether he will be able to keep his house or support his family,” Chernoff added.
The lawyer noted that Dr. Murray recently laid down $700 in borrowed cash in a Las Vegas court to avoid going to jail for nonpayment of child support.
Murray rendered medical services at the Houston clinic in April 2009 before suspending his regular practices in Las Vegas and Houston to take a lucrative $150,000 per-month job as Jackson’s personal physician.
The physician continues to be the focus of a homicide investigation since telling investigators he administered propofol, a dangerous operating room anesthetic, to Jackson.
Los Angeles police say they will not decide until next year whether Murray will be prosecuted.
5. Why ‘New Moon’ Broke Box-Office Records
This weekend “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” brought in an unexpected $140.7 million at the box-office.
The film now holds the box-office record for an autumn opening weekend and also nabs the third biggest three-day debut crown.
“New Moon” did more than twice the opening weekend box-office of its predecessor, “Twilight,” which topped out at $69.6 million.
Who dashed to multiplexes to see the vampire sequel?
Tons of folks, but for sure, a lot of women. They comprised 80 percent of the “New Moon” audience with approximately half of attendees being under 21 years of age.
Why the “Twilight” premise has such an appeal to females is not a tough one to figure out. The tale melds “Romeo and Juliet” with “Beauty and the Beast,” romance pure and simple, a love story at its core.
With the glow of goodness piercing through dark eyes, vampire Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) fights the dangerous instincts that lurk within.
The object of the vampire’s affection, Bella Swann (Kristen Stewart), is an awkward and somewhat withdrawn mortal teen, a character so easy for young people to identify with especially when gazing out over love’s terrain.
Her love elicits the chivalry in the Beast.
Hand in hand with the potential passion is the undefiled innocence of young love, which author Stephanie Meyer captures so artfully in her books.
In a frosty world, we find that love still conquers all at the box-office.
