There’s no question that 2020 has been an extremely challenging year for all of us. But in some ways, it has also been revelatory and inspiring.
From frontline healthcare works and essential workers to parents trying to juggle childcare responsibilities while also working from home to students learning remotely — and everything in between — we have all learned valuable lessons about who and what is truly important. We have also found within ourselves a deep reservoir of resilience, patience, and adaptability.
Even more, we have reevaluated and redefined what it means to be healthy, in every sense of the word.
As we continue through the holiday season and enter the New Year, why not maintain this mindset moving forward? Because if 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that we could all probably take better care of ourselves — and the holidays are no exception.
While the holidays may look a little different this year, they also present an unprecedented opportunity to be more mindful and intentional with our lifestyle choices. For example, maybe smaller holiday gatherings will allow you to focus more of your energy on spending quality time with loved ones instead of feeling the need to overindulge in festive cocktails.
Perhaps you’ll be able to select just a few of your favorite holiday treats to savor and enjoy because you won’t be tempted to sample everything on the buffet table.
With less time and energy expended on traveling, you might be able to incorporate more exercise or catch up on sleep.
No matter what your situation, there are pockets of positivity to be found that can absolutely help you on the journey to better health.
At Kelly’s Choice, we believe that wellness is about much more than what you put into your body, or even what you do with it. It’s also about your state of mind. This holiday season, we want to remind you to practice gratitude for anything that has helped you to feel strong and healthy this year.
We also want to encourage you to take charge of the things you can control right now, especially when it comes to how you take care of yourself. An extra glass of water, another hour of sleep, a second walk around the block after dinner, one serving of dessert instead of three — any small step you can take this holiday season will make a world of difference.
You have the power to live your best life, and there’s no better time to start than right now. From all of us at Kelly’s Choice, we wish you a wonderful holiday season and a bright New Year.
