With the invention of sildenafil citrate, the management of erectile dysfunction has found new hope. Most of the drugs used for managing erectile dysfunction were not giving expected results. Many brands of sildenafil citrate are available in the market, the most popular drug being Viagra.

Sildenafil, as the Viagra drug, has been in use all over the globe by men facing poor erections. This medication is particularly beneficial for men who have poor stamina to maintain erection during sexual activity. The drug, Viagra, is prescribed in a dosage of 25 to 100 milligrams. The elderly and patients with high blood pressure are prescribed a low dosage of the Viagra drug. Using sildenafil citrate drugs in high dosages and for long periods can cause a lot of side effects. This medication is also used in pulmonary hypertension and altitude sickness.

One of the common side effects of Viagra medication is hot flush over the face. This is felt due to the sudden rush of blood to the brain. Another common side effect of Viagra is headache and the cause is the same as that of hot flush. It is mainly experienced for a few seconds, but some people find it very severe and annoying. Other irritating side effects experienced after consuming this medication are nasal blockage or running nose. Some people have reported stomach pain and nausea as side effects after taking this medication.
A very interesting and peculiar side effect of sildenafil citrate drugs is that the person finds it difficult to recognize objects, as blurring occurs for a few seconds. Some other side effects of sildenafil drugs or Viagra are ringing in the ears and hearing loss.

Priapism is one of the serious side effects of Viagra, in which erection does not last and becomes painful. This condition needs surgical intervention to prevent damage to the penis.
If you experience any of the signs described here, report them to your doctor immediately and seek medical help. Also, during sexual activity, if you feel dizzy, experience pain, or feel numb, stop and seek medical help right away. You could be experiencing serious side effects of the drugs of sildenafil citrate.

Before starting sildenafil citrate drugs, it is always advisable to report to your doctor about the other medications you are taking. Many blood pressure medications and angina medications interact with Viagra, so there is a need to take care of their dosages. Heart troubles, eye disorders, brain problems, and liver and kidney diseases need a comprehensive review by a health care provider, if you need to start on sildenafil drugs or Viagra and want to avoid serious side effects.
