‘Super Power’ Dietary Pills Recalled

By    |   Wednesday, 27 February 2013 06:30 PM EST

The makers of “Super Power” dietary supplements are recalling the capsules because they contain trace amounts of the active ingredient in prescription erectile dysfunction drugs.

Freedom Trading has recalled one lot of its product sold as capsules, packaged in two-count blister packs. The recalled lot number is L08108, with an expiration date of June 20, 2015, found on the back of the package.

Super Power contains trace amounts of unlisted sildenafil, the active ingredient in Viagra, making it an unapproved drug. The capsules were sold nationwide between August 2012 and January 2013.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, sildenafil can interact with nitrates in some prescription drugs, such as nitroglycerin, and may lower blood pressure to dangerous levels. Consumers with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or heart disease often take nitrates.

Anyone who bought the product is advised to immediately stop using it and return it to the place of purchase.
