Bee Pollen Capsules Recalled

Thursday, 01 November 2012 10:17 AM EDT

The makers of bee pollen capsules are voluntarily recalling several products that were found to contain sibutramine — a controlled substance that was removed from the U.S. market two years ago for safety reasons.
The recall, announced by Zi Xiu Tang Success, involves four lots of “Classic Zi Xiu Tang Bee Pollen Capsules” and three lots of “Ultimate Formula Capsules” — weight loss supplements sold nationwide between May 1 and October 17 of this year.
Sibutramine is known to increase blood pressure and/or pulse rate in some patients and may present a significant risk for patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, or stroke, company officials said. They added that these products may interact in life-threatening ways with other medications.
To date, there have been no reports of health problems related to the recalled products, which involve the following:
• “Classic Zi Xiu Tang Bee Pollen Capsules” packaged in bottles of 60 pills with the UPC code 6937000700019 and lot numbers 04/15/2012, 05/15/2012, 06/15/2012 and 07/15/2012.
• “Ultimate Formula Capsules” packaged in bottles of 48 capsules with UPC 793573041401 and lot numbers 05/25/2012, 07/29/2012 and 08/05/2012.
Consumers should stop using the recalled products and return them to the place of purchase.
