Acne and Acne Scar Treatment: Go Get a Dermatologist's Opinion

Acne is a major health problem among teenagers. About 90 percent of teenagers suffer from pimples due to the high testosterone levels in their blood. In most cases, the acne problem gets resolved after 25 years, but some continue to suffer from acne and acne scars in later stages of life despite taking acne remedies and treatments.
 
A dermatologist can offer the best treatment option for acne and related skin conditions. Acne, commonly known as pimples, is a very common skin problem requiring consultation with dermatologists. Acne commonly affects the face, chest, shoulders, and the back regions in the body.

Acne scars have collagen tissue and are generally difficult to heal. They are formed as a result of healing of acne. Scars often lead to permanent damage to the skin. Acne scars can be atrophic, ice-picked, or boxcar type. For acne scar treatments, dermatologists recommend therapies such as laser, dermabrasion, or surgery. They advise sunscreen to avoid picking and the use of vitamin E initially to prevent the scars from becoming worse.
 
People suffering from acne and acne scars often try home remedies to reduce pigmentation and pimple scars. Aloe vera is one of the commonest remedies used for pimple treatment. Another excellent home remedy for scars is to apply nutmeg paste for a few minutes over the affected regions. Sandalwood is reputed to be one of the best herbal remedies for pimple and scar treatment. Most of the face packs available in the market contain this ingredient. If dandruff is the cause of the acne, then lemon juice, vinegar, or sour curd are applied over the pimples and on the scalp. Applying tomato pulp on the skin helps dry the pimples. This remedy has to be repeated many times to heal the pimples.
